Six animal families (chickens, cows, horses, sheep, pigs, goats) are introduced on 24 picture cards. For each family there is a card for the male, female, and the young, as well as one for the whole family together. On pages 1-3 are 6 large picture and word cards for each family.
The cards on pages 4-6 can be used as playing cards (Happy Families), or also for display activities (further cards required for displaying are on pages 13 and 14).
Pages 7-9 contain material for a table. The loose word cards may also be paired up with the models of the animals.
Pages 10-12 are templates. The children can use these templates to create their own little booklet. Only the outline of each animal has been provided allowing the children to either complete the picture or color it in.

Recommended Age (s):
5-8 years

Preparing the material:
All of the cards are meant to be laminated (recommended laminate thickness: 90-125 micron).
The individual cards need to be cut out.
Sides not to be laminated: templates
Sides or cards to be bound into a booklet: none

Possible Applications:
Possible application in connection with topics or projects such as:
farms (especially when the children have just started school)
Free work, individual work, pair work, small group work

Before you begin:
To work with this material, the children require:
a floor mat or a felt board, a number of display blocks with 2 grooves, glue, scissors, stationery with which to write, models of animals

How to use:
The children can position the large picture cards in the back row of the stand and match the name cards to the correct animals.
The large display cards may also be used to play Happy Families.

Control of Error:
The red silhouettes can be used as control of error. The complete table can also be used.
